A new episode of Licencias OnLine’s videopodcast brings together specialists to explain how application platforms are transforming businesses in Latin America. The focus is on the explosion of APIs, the benefits of microservices, and the role of artificial intelligence in software development. Experts warn: the future is not about replacing engineers but empowering them.
Licencias OnLine, a leading distributor of enterprise software solutions in Latin America, presented a new episode of LOL Cast, its videopodcast available on YouTube. In this case, the focus is on the main trends that are already emerging in organizations, such as the apification of platforms, the rise of microservices, and the impact of artificial intelligence on software development.
With the participation of Daniel Yesurón and Edison Pedraza, specialists from Licencias OnLine, along with technology journalist Débora Slotnisky, they take a deep dive into three major phenomena: the apification of platforms, the rise of microservices, and the impact of artificial intelligence on software development.
To explain what an API is, Pedraza uses a simple analogy: “We have a customer, a kitchen, and a waiter. The waiter is the API: it takes the order, brings it to the kitchen, and returns with the response.” This phenomenon, called apification, is now at the center of digital transformation: according to the LOL Trends 2026 ebook, more and more applications will be cloud-native, and the use of APIs will redefine the technological architecture of organizations in Latin America.

Regarding APIs, Yesurón highlights their strategic value for companies: they allow the integration of solutions from different technology providers and enhance business outcomes. “Thanks to APIs, tools from Microsoft, Adobe, and many others connect and enable higher-quality results,” he points out. In this regard, he emphasizes that vendors such as AWS, Red Hat, Sophos, Veritas, and Acronis already have their own APIs, and that Licencias OnLine offers the Go Connect space to guide organizations on how to integrate the different solutions available in the market.
Regarding microservices, the specialists highlight two key advantages for companies. The first is operational: an architecture based on microservices ensures greater availability and resilience, since a failure in one component does not compromise the operation of the rest of the system. The second is financial: this model allows costs to be measured and managed in a granular way, without the need to evaluate a monolithic structure as a whole, which facilitates decision-making within the framework of a FinOps strategy.
Finally, the episode addresses the impact of artificial intelligence on the work of development teams, and what can be expected in the coming months.
The episode is available, as well as the ebook, which is free to download.
