The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Xiomara Maduro, meets yearly with executives of Standard and Poor’s to discuss Aruba’s financial and economic evaluation.
Last week, the Minister met with S&P. The S&P also held several virtual meetings with government departments and entities to information on Aruba’s economic and financial reality. In the end, the Minister answered all the S&P’s questions about the fiscal reform, budget 2022, relationship with the Netherlands, reforms as indicated in the Landspakket, and access to finances.
S&P seems satisfied with Aruba’s efforts to get out of the economic downturn caused by the pandemic, and that Aruba is receptive to the structured help provided by the Netherlands in these uncertain times, according to the minister, this is indeed positive for the evaluation of Aruba.
The minister is grateful to all the stakeholders for their valuable input in the evaluation process and thanked S&P for their dedication and outstanding cooperation with Aruba. The final report will be available near the end of March 2022.
