US vice-President, Kamala Harris, has announced that her country is set to invest the US equivalent of JMD $4.6 billion into Jamaica.
The plan was announced following a bi-lateral meeting between vice-President Harris and Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
The plan will see the US invest US $20 million to boost commerce between the two nations. A further US $10 million will be invested in boosting human capital and violence reduction for at risk youth.
The total of US $30 million announced is the equivalent of more than JMD $4.6 billion at the current exchange rate.
Speaking on the morning show, Great Day Washington, Prime Minister Holness said the working visit to the capital is to reaffirm the relationship between Jamaica and the United States.
