A major national initiative to strengthen the digital capability across the island’s public service and accelerate the modernisation of how government works and delivers services will be launched soon.
The Learning and Development Unit (LDU) will officially launch the Barbados Public Service Digital Academy on Tuesday, March 17, at the Radisson Aquatica Resort, Aquatic Gap, St. Michael.
Director of the LDU, Fay-Marie Browne, described the Academy as “a flagship workforce transformation initiative” that is very important.
“The Academy will serve as a national platform for developing the digital skills required to support modern, citizen-centred government services and to advance Barbados’ broader digital transformation agenda.
“Through the Academy, public officers will be equipped with the knowledge and competencies necessary to operate effectively in an increasingly digital environment and to support the modernisation of public sector operations. It will be a game changer for the public service,” Mrs. Browne explained.
She said the launch of the Academy signals a clear commitment to building a “modern, agile, and future-ready” public service.
