Curaçao records another double-digit growth in stay-over arrivals

Must read

Curaçao has announced an 18 per cent rise in tourism arrivals over the last year.

The Curaçao Tourist Board has indicated that 58,291 stayover visitors were welcomed to the island in August 2024 while the 2023 numbers were just about 9,000 visitors less.

In a statement, the board said last August saw a significant influx of visitors thanks to the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival.

Data indicate that this edition attracted a substantial number of tourists, especially from Aruba, Suriname, Colombia, Brazil, the United States, and The Netherlands.

The top three source markets for August were The Netherlands, the US and Colombia. Dutch visitors registered a 22 per cent increase this year –  20, 935 in August 2024 compared to 17,146 stayover arrivals in August 2023.

The US, which is reportedly a strong market, recorded a 24 per cent increase from 11,834 in August 2023, to 14,703 arrivals in August 2024. The board says visitors from the US are primarily from New York, New Jersey, and Florida.

Visitors from Colombia grew by 37 per cent with 4,317 arrivals in August 2024 compared to 3,153 in August 2023.

In the first eight months of 2024, the country recorded 464,017 stayover arrivals, reflecting a 24 percent growth with all markets experiencing strong arrival numbers.

When factoring in cruise passengers, day trippers, and stayover visitors, the total reached 1,042,754 between January and August 2024, marking a 23 per cent year-over-year increase
