Licencias OnLine (LOL) has announced a strategic alliance with Qualys, a company specializing in cloud-based exposure management, vulnerability detection, and compliance solutions, to expand its cybersecurity portfolio across Latin America. The agreement was introduced during a webinar in which both companies shared their vision for the new era of cybersecurity, driven by artificial intelligence, risk hyper-prioritization, and autonomous remediation.
Qualys has evolved from being a vulnerability management platform into a comprehensive solution focused on reducing cyber risk exposure through automation and artificial intelligence. Today, its offering is built around the Enterprise TruRisk platform, which integrates risk management, compliance, cloud security, application protection, identity security, and remediation capabilities. This positions Qualys as a strong alternative for organizations seeking to centralize and simplify their cybersecurity operations.
Qualys’ growth strategy in Latin America, in partnership with Licencias OnLine, includes a dedicated local team and a strong focus on the enterprise segment, particularly organizations with mature cybersecurity programs, such as financial institutions and large enterprises.
Paradigm Shift
Cybersecurity is undergoing a paradigm shift driven by artificial intelligence. In fact, AI has dramatically reduced the time window between the discovery of a vulnerability and its exploitation, making it essential for organizations to automate detection, prioritization, and response processes.
According to Francisco Medero, Regional Director for South America at Qualys, vulnerability management alone is no longer enough. “Given the growing volume of security alerts, organizations must prioritize risks based on business context, taking into account factors such as asset criticality, exposure, threat intelligence, and the actual likelihood of exploitation,” he explained.
While presenting the Enterprise TruRisk platform, Medero explained that its purpose is to unify security information in order to provide organizations with a comprehensive view of enterprise risk.
Autonomous Remediation
Another key topic discussed during the webinar was that the shrinking exposure window is forcing organizations to automate remediation processes. “In the past, a vulnerability could take weeks or even months to be exploited. Today, that window can be measured in hours,” the expert explained.
Against this backdrop, the next stage in the evolution of cybersecurity is autonomous remediation. By leveraging automation and artificial intelligence, the Qualys platform can deploy patches, execute mitigation actions, and even isolate compromised assets, significantly reducing response times.
According to Qualys representatives, a traditional remediation approach based on reactive patching can result in a Mean Time to Remediate (MTTR) of around 90 days. In contrast, an AI-driven autonomous remediation model can reduce that timeframe to fewer than seven days for critical vulnerabilities.
The Benefits of Risk Hyper-Prioritization
Company representatives emphasized that simply measuring the number of detected vulnerabilities is no longer meaningful. According to the data they shared, fewer than 1% of published vulnerabilities are ever actively exploited. “For example, nearly 50,000 CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) were disclosed in 2025, yet only 357 were actively exploited. However, within a large organization, those vulnerabilities may be replicated across millions of assets, generating tens of millions of findings that must be analyzed and prioritized,” they explained.
Focusing on What Truly Matters
During the presentation, the speakers shared the example of an organization that initially faced 62 million security findings. By applying hyper-prioritization based on business context, threat intelligence, and asset criticality, that number was reduced to approximately 150,000 vulnerabilities that genuinely required remediation.
In this scenario, what truly matters is identifying which vulnerabilities represent a real business risk. As Francisco Medero concluded, “The key is to reduce the exposure window and accelerate the remediation of vulnerabilities that pose a genuine risk to the organization. Prioritizing the risks that truly matter significantly increases operational efficiency.”
