Trinidad & Tobago | Ministry: US Embassy resumes processing of student visa applications

The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs is advising the public that the Embassy of the United States of America has officially resumed the processing of student visa (F-1, M-1 and J-1) applications for international students intending to pursue academic programmes in the United States.

A statement from the Ministry says this development follows the lifting of a temporary suspension on student visa appointments, which had been in effect since May 2025.

The Ministry welcomes this resumption, recognising its significance for nationals who have secured placements at accredited institutions across the United States.

It notes that nationals applying for student visas are strongly encouraged to diligently read and adhere to the official guidelines issued by the US Department of State.

Particular attention should be given to any requirements related to social media account accessibility and other supporting documentation.

The Ministry is urging prospective applicants to ensure that all information provided is accurate, complete, and consistent with the instructions set out by US authorities in order to facilitate the smooth processing of their applications.

The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs adds that it remains committed to facilitating nationals in being able to access educational opportunities abroad and will continue to proactively collaborate with Trinidad and Tobago’s bilateral partners to achieve this objective.
