President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated several major infrastructure projects in Samaná, including the complete reconstruction of the Santa Bárbara boardwalk, with a total investment exceeding RD$553 million. These developments are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to boost tourism and improve public spaces in the province.
The seawall project spans 1.3 kilometers along the Santa Bárbara waterfront and includes key hydraulic solutions to reduce flooding, the restoration of public areas, and the cleanup of nearby creeks. It also introduced modern features such as a 1,115-meter bike path, new seating, viewing platforms, children’s play zones, and food vendor modules equipped with full-service kitchens.
Also inaugurated was the RD$24 million restoration of the Santa Bárbara Parish, an important religious and cultural landmark. The project involved structural renovations, new stained-glass windows, religious imagery, and accessibility upgrades, all aimed at enhancing religious tourism. The church’s exterior was also improved with solar panels, ramps, stone grottos, and improved pathways.
