T&T, Nigeria sign bilateral air services agreement

Must read

If you’re planning to visit Nigeria but mindful of all the traveling that you’d have to do to get there, you may be in luck as the journey may be a bit easier now and and quicker too.

Here’s how:

Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan signed a historical Bilateral Air Services Agreement with Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Festus Keyamo, on Monday (April 14).

The signing ceremony took place at the Piarco Airport’s VIP Lounge.

In an update, the Ministry of Works and Transport noted that the agreement, which has been 22 years in the making, establishes a formal civil aviation relationship between our twin-island nation and Nigeria, creating the possibility of direct air connections (to and from the African continent) for the very first time.

It said that the agreement is also poised to enhance connectivity, stimulate tourism, facilitate trade, and strengthen diplomatic ties.

“This transformative agreement goes far beyond aviation as it opens the door to greater opportunities for cultural and educational exchanges between the two nations,” the ministry said.
