The Government is developing a Jamaica Learning Assistant (JLA) in its continued thrust to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) for national development.
The disclosure was made by Prime Minister, Dr. the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, during his contribution to the 2025/26 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on Thursday (March 20).
“It is a groundbreaking AI-powered platform designed to revolutionise learning with end-to-end AI-generated and curated content, fully aligned with the national curriculum,” he explained.
The JLA will adapt lessons to each student’s unique learning style, whether they understand concepts through detailed explanations, humour, poems, mind maps, AI-generated animated story-based visuals, interactive questions and answers, quizzes or by conversing with a human-like AI tutor.
JLA will provide every Jamaican child with access to 24/7 personalised learning at their own pace, both in and out of the classroom.
Teachers will also have the option of using JLA, dramatically reducing the time spent on lesson planning and grading.
