As cyber threats continue to escalate across the Caribbean, businesses are seeking stronger, more scalable security solutions to protect their digital assets. This urgency was the key focus at the Cybersecurity Power Breakfast, hosted by Cloud Carib in partnership with Cisco, where industry leaders gathered to explore cyber defense strategies and how the Cyber Tax Allowance in Trinidad can incentivise security investments.
Cloud Carib, a leading provider of managed cloud and cybersecurity solutions in the Caribbean and Latin America, emphasised the critical role of regional collaboration in fortifying cybersecurity defenses. “Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility,” noted Kerwin Vialva, Solutions Architect at Cloud Carib. “Threats do not respect borders, and as Caribbean businesses digitise their operations, cross-regional strategies and partnerships will be vital in ensuring resilience.”
The event featured insights from Sean St. John, Manager of Public Sector Business Continuity at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, who detailed the government’s commitment to supporting businesses through the Cyber Tax Allowance. He encouraged organizations to leverage available incentives to strengthen their cybersecurity posture and safeguard sensitive data.
Experts from Cisco and Cloud Carib demonstrated cutting-edge security solutions, including Duo Multi-Factor Authentication, Splunk, and Cisco Umbrella, showing how businesses can proactively mitigate cyber risks and streamline security operations. The event also explored the increasing adoption of Managed Security Services (MSS) to address challenges such as limited IT resources, growing cyber threats, and the demand for 24/7 security operations.
“Cyber resilience is no longer optional, it’s a necessity for business continuity and economic stability,” said Mark Arruda, VP of Solutions at Cloud Carib. “By integrating managed security services and taking advantage of government-backed incentives, Caribbean businesses can implement world-class security solutions while reducing the operational burden.”
As cyber threats become more sophisticated and frequent, Cloud Carib continues to champion cybersecurity awareness and offer tailored security solutions to help organizations across the Caribbean stay ahead of emerging risks.
