Dominican Republic | INDOTEL and OAS discuss collaboration to bridge digital divide

Guido Gómez Mazara, President of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL), met with OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro to discuss efforts to reduce the digital divide in the Dominican Republic. Almagro expressed interest in supporting initiatives that enhance internet connectivity, particularly in vulnerable communities.

Gómez Mazara emphasized the need for inclusive public policies to expand access to technological tools, noting that many low-income areas still face barriers to digital inclusion. He highlighted INDOTEL’s ongoing programs aimed at improving connectivity and ensuring technology serves the broader population.

The meeting was described as a productive step toward structuring an institutional agenda to address connectivity challenges. Meanwhile, Gómez Mazara continues his visit to the U.S., engaging with academic, community, and government leaders to strengthen cooperation in the telecommunications sector.
