Dominican Republic | Industries plan to invest RD$87,000 million

The AIRD presented the 2024 Industrial Awards to the Chamber of Deputies, Cervecería Nacional Dominicana (CND), and businesswoman Elena Viyella. Luis Abinader attended the event.

Companies in the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) will invest more than RD$87,000 million by 2025 to strengthen the national economy and generate quality jobs.

This was announced yesterday by the president of the AIRD, Julio Virgilio Brache, during the ceremony of the 2024 Industrial Awards, which President Luis Abinader attended.

Brache said that a combination of factors, driven by mutual trust, optimism, and clear rules of the game, facilitates doing business and attracting investment in the country.

In addition, the business leader said that “the industrialization of the Dominican Republic is not a dream, it is an achievable goal.”

In this sense, he added that there is certainty that the promotion of industrialization is a necessary component to be able to achieve the RD 2036 Goal plan of doubling the country’s GDP in 12 years.

Award

The Chamber of Deputies was awarded for its Institutional Work in Support of the Industrial Sector, while the Dominican National Brewery (CND) received recognition for the Dominican Industry.

In addition, Elena Viyella received the Industrial Merit Award for her outstanding career and contribution to the sector.

During his speech, Mario Pujols, executive vice president of AIRD, explained the rigorous selection process of the winners and stressed the importance of industrialization as a driver of economic and social transformation.

Upon receiving the award, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, highlighted the approval of 30 laws that favor legal certainty in the country, therefore positively impacting the investment climate.

For his part, the president of the CND, Fabián Suárez, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable development, its important contribution to the treasury, which amounts to RD$44,000 million, and its plans to invest RD$13,000 million in the next five years.
Viyella highlighted the importance of industrial transformation 2.0.

He also praised the recent modification to the National Constitution and called on all society to support the police reform project.
