Dominica increases air access options with American Airlines & WINAIR

Must read

Discover Dominica Authority has announced new and expanded air travel services to Dominica, courtesy of WINAIR and American Airlines.

This expansion includes the recently launched WINAIR flights between Dominica and Martinique and the addition of another Saturday flight to the recently announced daily winter service between Dominica and Miami by American Airlines.

These offer travellers enhanced connectivity and flexibility for their journeys to and from Dominica.

The Authority says understanding the needs of travellers, WINAIR has optimised its flight schedules to introduce, for the first time in over 10 years, direct flights between Fort-de-France, Martinique (FDF) and Douglas–Charles Airport, Dominica (DOM).

The flights leave Martinique for Dominica on Wednesdays and Sundays, departing at 6:15 pm and arriving at 7 pm, and return flights from Dominica to Martinique on Thursdays and Mondays, taking off at 7:30 am and landing at 8:15 am.

This initial schedule caters to individuals looking for direct access between Dominica and Martinique while also facilitating connections to major destinations such as Paris, Miami, and Toronto, thereby significantly enhancing the overall travel experience.

Meanwhile, from December 7, 2024, through March 31, 2025, American Airlines will enhance its service by adding a second flight from Miami to Dominica on Saturdays.

Flights will depart Miami (MIA) at 10:05 am and arrive in Dominica (DOM) at 2:25 pm. The introduction of this second Saturday flight during the winter season expands travel choices and complements the daily flight, offering even more options for those eager to discover the beauty and warmth of Dominica.

Denise Charles-Pemberton, Minister for Tourism, shared her enthusiasm about the impact of these enhancements, stating: “The launch of WINAIR’s direct flights between Fort-de-France, Martinique, and Dominica and American Airlines’ additional Saturday flight from Miami to Dominica extend beyond simply improving air accessibility.

They symbolise our united efforts to pave the way for a thriving future for Dominica. These new links create broader pathways for tourism, boost our economy, and connect diverse cultures. This advancement is set to significantly enhance the travel experience within and beyond the Caribbean region, opening new opportunities for international tourism and business ventures.

I encourage everyone to seize this opportunity to explore Dominica and experience its extraordinary beauty, vibrant culture, and outstanding hospitality that the island is renowned for. Come join us and discover why Dominica is the Nature Island of the Caribbean.”

The introduction of these services marks a significant milestone in economic and social benefits for Dominica.
