Antigua and Barbuda and Brazil have signed an Air Service Agreement in an effort to boost relations between the two nations.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the VIII Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC) summit in St Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday.
Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, signed the agreement after a meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
“The Agreement will pave the way for further economic cooperation between the two countries through trade and investment,” the Office of the Prime Minister said.
“President Lula also used the opportunity to announce that Brazil will reopen its Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda, solidifying a commitment to deepening relations between St John’s and Brasília. The news of the reopening of the Brazilian Embassy was welcomed by Prime Minister Browne who mentioned that Antigua and Barbuda would be seeking to establish a presence in Brazil.”
Browne used the meeting with Lula to invite him to the International Conference on Small Island Developing States to be held in Antigua and Barbuda from May 27 to 30, 2024.
