Dutch Royals to conclude Caribbean tour today on Saba

King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Catharina-Amalia, the Princess of Orange have arrived on Saba for the final stop of their two-week tour of the Dutch Caribbean islands.

The royals were warmly welcomed by locals after their landing at the Juancho E Yrausquin Airport which is listed as one of the world’s most dangerous landing strips.

The day trip to Saba will see the King, Queen and Princess meeting with locals as well as exploring parts of Saba.

Their first engagement will be a reception held by Lieutenant Governor Jonathan Johnson following which the royals will be taken to the solar energy plant.

The royals will visit Zion’s Hill to receive an explanation about Saba’s famous bobbin lace.

Windwardside will be the next stop on the tour.

A cultural performance by Saba’s elders and a trip to the Harry L Johnson Museum are planned for the royals.

After lunch with the authorities of Saba, the royals will visit the Expertise Education Center Saba in St Johns.

The royal party then leaves for the harbour where they will receive an explanation of the construction plans for a new port. 

Finally, the King, Queen and Princess will go to the village of The Bottom where they will play sports with children on the largest Cruijff Court in the world.
