ORANJESTAD – Wingo recently announced the addition of two new direct services to/from Medellin, Colombia to its existing service from Bogota, Colombia, and Aruba.
The Air Service Development Manager Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA), Mrs. Jo-Anne Meaux-Arends, was invited to Medellin for this announcement.
Club Union in San Fernando Plaza (El Poblado) was the chosen venue to make this announcement in the presence of Medellin’s Tourism board, Antioquia’s government representatives, and the Colombian press.
Present at the press conference was Medellin’s Secretary of Economic Development, Mr. Alejandro Arias, Medellin Airport’s CEO, Mr. Fredy Jaramillo, Wingo’s General Manager, Jorge Jiménez, Mrs. Miriam Dabian, ATA’s Latin-American Director, and Mr. Jordan Schlipken Croes Business Development Manager Aruba Tourism Authority Latinoamerìca.
The schedule is as follows:
- The two weekly direct services to/from Medellin – Aruba will be provided on Wednesdays and Saturdays on board a B737-800 aircraft with a 189-seat capacity.
- On Wednesdays, the flights will depart from Medellin at 2:18 PM. The return flight will be at 5:56 PM.
- On Saturdays, the flights will depart from Medellin at 10:08 AM, arriving in Aruba at 1:08 PM. The return flight will be at 1:46 PM to arrive in Medellin at 2:30 PM.
- This translates into approximately 3,000 extra seats monthly to/from Aruba. With the additional service starting October 1, 2022, Wingo will operate five weekly flights from Colombia, namely three from Bogota and two from Medellin.
- Sarpa Airlines currently serves the direct Medellin route with three weekly flights. It means that Aeropuerto Internacional Reina Beatrix (AUA Airport) will have five weekly nonstop flights to/from Medellin as of October 1, 2022.
