Barbados To Continue Cooperation On Mutual Matters With Venezuela

Must read

Cooperation on matters of mutual interest will continue between the Governments of Barbados and Venezuela.

This was emphasised during a courtesy call paid on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, and Senior Minister coordinating Social and Environmental Policy, Senator Dr. Jerome Walcott, by Venezuela’s Chargé d’affaires, Martha Gabriela Ortega Peraza.

Minister Walcott welcomed Ms. Ortega Peraza to her new post as Chargé d’affaires and expressed thanks for the assistance received from Venezuela over the years, since establishing diplomatic ties in September 1969, especially in the area of language training for public sector workers, through the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation.

Ms. Ortega Peraza, who took up the post of Chargé d’affaires on February 25, this year, said she loves Barbados and feels at home here, adding that it reminds her of Sucre, in Venezuela.

The two officials discussed diverse subject matters, including trade cooperation, COVID-19, tourism, finalising an air services agreement, educational and cultural exchanges, health and the upcoming Summit of Americas.

Also participating in the courtesy call were the Head of the Hemispheric Relations Division in the Ministry, John Blackman, and First Secretaries in the Venezuelan Embassy, César Benedetti and Indira Juárez.
