Jamaica – US Set to Invest JMD $4.6 Billion Following Bilateral Talks

US vice-President, Kamala Harris, has announced that her country is set to invest the US equivalent of JMD $4.6 billion into Jamaica.

The plan was announced following a bi-lateral meeting between vice-President Harris and Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

The plan will see the US invest US $20 million to boost commerce between the two nations. A further US $10 million will be invested in boosting human capital and violence reduction for at risk youth.

The total of US $30 million announced is the equivalent of more than JMD $4.6 billion at the current exchange rate.

Holness is being accompanied on his working visit by foreign affairs minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith.
