World Leaders on Ukraine`s invasion

Olaf Scholz – Germany – “President #Putin is bringing suffering and destruction upon his immediate neighbours. He is endangering the lives of countless innocent people in #Ukraine, Russia’s sister nation. There is no justification for this – it is Putin’s war. I call on him to stop the attack at once.”

Boris Johnson – UK – “Ukraine is a country that for decades has enjoyed freedom and democracy and the right to choose its own destiny. We and the world cannot allow that freedom just to be snuffed out. We cannot and will not just look away … Today, in concert with our allies, we will agree a massive package of economic sanctions designed in time to hobble the Russian economy. And to that end, we must also collectively cease the dependence on Russian oil and gas that for too long has given Putin his grip on western politics. Our mission is clear; diplomatically politically, economically, and eventually, military, this hideous and barbaric venture of Vladimir Putin must end in failure.”

France will respond without weakness to Russia’s act of war against Ukraine, said President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, adding that Russia could expect tough sanctions that would hit its military, its economy and its energy sector. “The events of last night mark a turning point in the history of Europe,” said Macron in a televised address to the French nation, standing before French, European Union and Ukranian flags. “We will respond to this act of war without weakness, with cold blood, determination and unity,” he added. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian had also earlier said that France would reinforce its support to Ukraine “in all its forms”, without further specifying whether or not this could include military means.
