BAHAMAS’ STEVEN GARDINER ADDS OLYMPIC 400M GOLD TO HIS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

The 25-year-old ran a season best 43.85 to upgrade from bronze at Rio 2016. It was good enough to beat Colombia’s Anthony Jose Zambrano and London 2012 champion Kirani James. Gardiner looked comfortable in the closing stages while his opponents tired.

“The Bahamas is proud of Steven Gardiner. He gave Bahamians across our country a moment of joy today during this difficult time due to the pandemic. On behalf of the Government I congratulate Steven, his family and coaches for this historic win.” – Prime Minister Minnis
