CARICOM CONGRATULATES THE BAHAMAS ON ITS 48TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has extended congratulations to the Government and People of The Bahamas on the country’s Forty-Eighth Anniversary of Independence.

CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque in a congratulatory message to the Bahamian Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis, said the theme chosen for the milestone “A Celebration of Life: Revive us Again” is one in which the wider Community can share as it speaks to looking forward and rebounding from the detrimental effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The resilience of Bahamians as exemplified by their recovery from a spate of hurricanes in recent times will be a major factor in attaining this objective,” the Secretary-General said.

He told Prime Minister Minnis that as lead Head of Government with responsibility for Tourism in the CARICOM Quasi-Cabinet, the Community welcomes his leadership and expertise in this critical sector to the Community’s economy as it seeks to build back better in the post-pandemic world.
