Jamaica – Kingston Logistics Park and the Portmore Informatics Park on the way

From Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ #BudgetDebate2021 presentation on March 18th, the PAJ has also been investing in the development of Special Economic Zones. Two in particular were noted – Kingston Logistics Park and the Portmore Informatics Park.

The PAJ is developing land holdings immediately adjacent to the Kingston Container Terminal (KCT) into a “Near Port Logistics Center”.

“The intention is to catalyze the development of International Logistics around the first-rate Transshipment terminal in Kingston. We have also constructed a 200,000 square-foot Logistics facility built to international logistics specifications on a section of land immediately beside the main entrance to the KCT.”

Given the centrality of security to the development of transshipment and logistics in Kingston, the PAJ has also constructed a state-of-the-art security complex with its own container inspection facilities housing the Jamaica Customs Agency’s Contraband Enforcement Team and the US Container Security Initiative.

Expected completion for external works is May 2021.On completion of this phase of the development which will be known as the Kingston Logistics Park, attention will focus on the development of the lands between the western perimeter of the terminal and the Causeway.
